Virtual forum in defense of the peoples meets in Cuba

Havana, Dec 10 (Agencies) A virtual Anti-imperialist Forum in
Defense of the Peoples began its sessions from Cuba on Thursday
with a call for unity to confront interference, colonialism, foreign
occupation and all forms of discrimination.

The event, convened by civil society organizations and other
institutions of the Caribbean nation, will run until this Friday live on
facebook.com/siempreconcuba, and its purpose is to establish a
space for articulation and solidarity.

The forum condemns imperialism, the main responsible for human
rights violations in the world, which is still suffering the effects of the
Covid-19 pandemic and inequalities, exclusion and poverty, the
invitation states.

In the same way, it denounces how the current context the logic of
capital prevails over the life and health of the planet, the
environment is attacked with unsustainable patterns of production
and consumption, and peace is threatened with wars and conflicts
that destroy peoples and civilizations.

Other global problems noted are the imposition of Western patterns
that try to erase national identities, as well as a strong cultural and
media war that subverts realities and distances peoples from their
historical claims.

We live in a time when unilateral coercive measures and
interference policies are applied that attack sovereignty, self-
determination and human rights, the organizers stressed.

Faced with this panorama, the peoples defend their right to live in
peace, as well as to equality and social justice, they pointed out.
