Havana, Oct 21st (Agencies) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez said that the country is experiencing an exceptional situation, marked by two fundamental and complex events: the energy emergency, and the effects of a cyclone that hit the eastern provinces of the Caribbean island.
Regarding the energy emergency, the president stressed that the problem stems from the unavailability of fuel, increased by the entire economic war waged by the US government against our country. “This includes financial and energy persecution. We have not had stable fuel supplies so that the system can operate at its full capacity and with all its stability.”
This situation, Díaz-Canel stressed, caused a disconnection incident last Friday. “Immediately, work was done, a level of connection was achieved. But another disconnection occurred on Sunday and work was done all night and into the early morning. Then, in the afternoon, when the outlook was more favorable, a disconnection occurred again, and once again work continues to seek greater stability for the system.”
He also commented that, according to experts, the worst incident that can occur in a country is the disconnection of a system like the one that occurred last Friday. “Here, all the professional and operational potential of the electro-energy system works. We have had the opportunity to be with other colleagues in the national office and you have to see the level of knowledge and precision with which the colleagues from the national load dispatch work in communication with the provinces.”
The president highlighted the understanding and solidarity of the Cuban people in facing these adversities, as well as the dedication of the electrical workers, committed to achieving stability of the service.
He also thanked the solidarity received from various governments and peoples in the face of the complex situation that the Caribbean nation is going through.
