Gambia condemns US financial war against Cuba

Banjul, Oct. 21.- The president of the Gambia-Cuba Friendship Association, Joseph Modou Peh Grant, today strongly condemned the financial war that the US is imposing on the largest of the Antilles, in clear allusion to the tightened blockade by Washington.

In a message sent to the embassy of the Caribbean island in this West African nation, Grant blamed the US administration for the complex situation that Cuba faces with the electricity supply, while at the same time it suffers the effects of a hurricane.

He stressed that we once again stand in solidarity and continue to trust in the Cuban people, with whom our minds and souls will be in these difficult times.

He said that “I was saddened when I first saw the magnitude of the energy problem as reported by the imperial television network called CNN,” adding that “as soon as I began to recover from my sadness with the reports on the progress of the work to restore supplies, I received the news of an impending cyclone in the eastern part of the island.”
