Day for Peace against Terrorism and the Blockade of Cuba begins

Havana, Sep 4th (Prensa Latina) The worldwide rejection of the hostility of the United States towards Cuba called for a Day for Peace against Terrorism and the Blockade, promoted by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), starting this Wednesday.

The initiative will be in effect until the date of presentation to the UN in October of a new Draft Resolution against the US blockade of the island, and will plan actions for its exclusion from the list of alleged countries sponsoring terrorism.

According to ICAP executives, the start of the event will be marked by a tribute to Fabio Di Celmo, an Italian tourist who was the victim of a terrorist attack on the Copacabana Hotel in Havana on September 4, 1997.

The call also includes activities not only in the capital but throughout the country, in which ICAP provincial delegations will be involved, its organizers assured yesterday at a press conference held in this capital.

The call of the Cuban pacifist group, they said, will surely find echoes among its peers around the world, as well as among progressive people who systematically demand the end of the hostility of the North American country against the Caribbean nation for more than six decades.

To achieve the planned objectives, ICAP points out among the special motivations the celebration of the International Day of Peace (September 21), the universal condemnation of the genocidal US blockade and the unjustified inclusion of Cuba on the list of state sponsors of terrorism.

The program of activities also includes the Day of Solidarity with Puerto Rico and the World Day of Solidarity with Cuba (October 10).

There will also be film debates, conferences and events, as well as actions in the virtual space, such as the tweetstorm dedicated to Palestine on September 21.

On the foreign stage, Cuba will join various rallies at the request of the Solidarity Movement with the island, including the celebration of the World Day for Peace, led by the Chinese People’s Association for Peace and Disarmament (September 18-25).

The State Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba will also take place in Spain (October 4-6), the Regional Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba in Asia-Pacific, in China (October 28-31) and the XIX European Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, in Paris (November 22-24).
