Banjul, March 20th . – The president of the Gambia-Cuba Friendship Association, Joseph Modou Peh Grant, strongly condemned the US interference in the internal affairs of the Caribbean island, and the cruel blockade that has been imposed on it for more than 60 years. Imposed by successive White House regimes.
In a note sent to the embassy of the largest of the Antilles here, Peh Grant predicted that Washington will persist in its imperial purpose of trying to destroy the Cuban Revolution, but «we trust in the resistance of the Cubans in the face of the continuous aggressions of their neighbor on the north,” he stressed.
In this regard, he urged the government and people of the oldest Caribbean archipelago to maintain unity, and continue finding their own solutions to reduce the shortcomings and suffering caused by the intensified economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States.
For his part, his fellow Gambian friend, Peter Goddard, wrote in another message that the interventionist behavior of the Washington embassy in Havana is totally unacceptable, according to international diplomatic rules.
He assured that «we will continue to support the Cuban authorities and its people in the fight they are waging against the hostile actions perpetrated by the United States.»
