African Union (AU) condemns US blockade against Cuba for the fifteenth times

Addis Ababa, Feb 19 (Prensa Latina) The African Union (AU) condemned today for the fifteenth times the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by the United States government against Cuba, on the last day of the 37th Summit of that regional bloc.

On this occasion, the AU also requested the removal of the Caribbean island from Washington’s spurious list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism.

The approval of the text called “Resolution on the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on the Republic of Cuba by the United States of America” once again ratified the solidarity of the African continent with the largest of the Antilles, and its support for the demand presented by it every year at the United Nations General Assembly.

The 37th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the AU concluded early this Monday after meeting for two days under the theme Educating for the 21st century: Building resilient educational systems to increase access to inclusive, quality and relevant learning in Africa.

Intense debates behind closed doors addressed education, peace, security and organizational reform initiatives, among other topics.
