Banjul, September 23.- For the fifth consecutive time in the last five years, Gambia urged the US in the UN General Assembly to lift the blockade on Cuba, which has lasted for too long.
The new exhortation to Washington was made by the vice president of this West African nation, Muhammad B.S. Jallow, in his speech on Thursday at the high-level segment of the UNGA78 that takes place in New York until September 26.
In the last five years, Gambia has raised its voice every year at the United Nations demanding an end to the economic, commercial and financial siege imposed on the Caribbean island for more than six decades.
A similar call was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of this country, Mamadou Tangara, in his speech at the recently held G77 and China Summit in Havana, where he also congratulated the Cuban Medical Brigades (BMC) for their commendable work of healing and saving. lives in all corners of our planet, including the darkest, he said, paraphrasing the historical leader Fidel Castro.
