Banjul, Sept 11.- A new group of Cuban health professionals arrived in The Gambia to join the Medical Brigade of the Caribbean island (BMC) that for almost 30 years has been healing and saving lives in this sister and grateful West African nation.
The doctors and graduates of different specialties arrived in this capital on Sunday night, where they were received by the head of the BMC, Dr. Juan F. Oquendo Montes, and the ambassador of the largest of the Antilles here, Rubén G. Abelenda. .
More than a hundred health workers currently make up the contingent of the prestigious Cuban White Coat peaceful army that provides its services throughout this country, where they are very loved and recognized by the populations.
The collaboration of the oldest Antillean archipelago with The Gambia in this important sphere began in 1996, and since then it has been maintained uninterruptedly.
In Banjul, since its creation in 1999, there is also the Faculty of Medicine and Related Sciences, in which Cuban professors, together with others of different nationalities, train young people to guarantee the main human right of the people to receive health care.
