The relationship with Africa is one of brothers, affirmed the president of Cuba

Havana, Sep 7 (Prensa Latina) The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, stated this Wednesday that after his recent tour of African countries it was possible to verify that the relationship is between sister nations.

In his statements, broadcast on the Mesa Redonda television program, the Cuban president stressed that during his tour of Angola, South Africa, Mozambique and Namibia it was confirmed that the ties have a multipolar nature, a view that he considered necessary for the best performance of the world relations.

He stated that it was an important tour for development and the economy, because in addition to verifying the functioning of the collaboration missions, new paths were opened to expand them with new modalities.

Díaz-Canel pointed out that his tour also allowed us to renew relations of friendship and cooperation with the member nations of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), as well as learn about the prospects for south-south exchange.

He explained that his tour, which extended from the 19th to the 28th, had been postponed for several years due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the intensification of the economic blockade imposed by the United States on the Caribbean nation.

He highlighted as an important aspect for its realization South Africa’s invitation to the island to participate in the Brics Summit, in its capacity as pro tempore president of the Group of 77 and China.

He pointed out that during the tour he learned about life stories that mark the legacy of the close relationship of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, with the leaders of the liberation movements of those African nations.

It was possible to reaffirm the friendly relations marked first of all by history, since Africans are essential in the formation of Cuban nationality, highlighted the Cuban head of state.

He also highlighted that in the different meetings the work of the island to achieve the independence of those countries and in the elimination of the apartheid regime was recognized.

He  added that the presence of Cuban collaborators from different sectors in those territories and the role they play is fondly recognized.

Díaz-Canel said  the recognition and gratitude to Cuba for all the solidarity provided was evident, but the nations also ratified their support for the lifting of the unjust blockade and the elimination of the island from the injustice list of countries that supposedly sponsor terrorism. , prepared unilaterally by the United States.

The Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Caribbean nation, Anayansi Rodríguez, appeared on television, describing as exciting the various meetings with Cuban collaborators and fellow residents, as well as the tribute paid by Díaz-Canel to the heroes of each country.

The diplomat highlighted that important agreements were signed on economic and commercial matters, as well as inter-chancellery agreements.

The Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs valued the presence of the Caribbean nation at the Brics Summit as transcendental.

In that sense, she explained that the meeting was important to exchange with other dignitaries and reiterate the invitation to the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Group of 77 and China, to be held in Havana on the 15th and 16th of the month in course.
