Friendship Group in Parliament of Gambia congratulates Cuba for the 44th birthday of diplomatic ties

Banjul, May 18. – The Gambia-Cuba Friendship legislative group today congratulated the Caribbean island for the celebration of the 44th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between both brother countries, which is 19th of May.

In a message sent to the Cuban Embassy here and signed by its president, Deputy Madi MK Cessay, the aforementioned group expresses the gratitude of the Gambian National Assembly to the government, the people and its counterpart in the Greater Antilles for the help provided to this West African nation for more than four decades.

The text emphasizes that during all this time this small State has gained a lot in health, education and other sectors thanks to the collaboration and solidarity of the oldest Caribbean archipelago.

For this reason, the letter adds, we convey our heartfelt appreciation to the authorities and people of Cuba for the 44 years of progressive ties between the two nations.

The message concludes by wishing the island more development, while cooperation and mutual friendship continue to be strengthened.
