Havana, May 11 (Prensa-Latina) The Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez, today considered the establishment of a new world order of information and communications urgent.
In his account of the Twitter social network, the chancellor assured that «true Internet governance will not be possible, as long as 6 US technology platforms control 80% of the data generated on the network and model political scenarios and the will of millions of people».
Rodríguez has also repeatedly criticized the impact of the economic, commercial and financial blockade on platforms and technologies, and that it excludes Cubans from services that most Internet users cannot enjoy.
«This is the main obstacle to broad access to information and communication technologies,» he said.
In general, it is recognized in several publications that among the so-called giants of the technological and digital industry are Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet and Facebook (now Meta) that long ago conquered a predominant place not only in the world of new technologies, but also in that of finances.
Various lists of these conglomerates that dominate world information and communications also include Google, Apple, Alphabet Inc, Samsung Group, Tencent Holdings and Cisco Systems, among others.
