Friends in The Gambia congratulate Cuba for its resistance, and Díaz-Canel for his re-election

Banjul, Apr 30.- The Gambia-Cuba Friendship Association conveyed a congratulatory message to the people of the Caribbean island for their resistance to the prolonged US blockade, and to Miguel Díaz-Canel for his recent re-election as president of the Republic.

The text, on the occasion of May Day, condemns the severe economic, commercial and financial siege that Washington imposes on the largest of the Antilles, which it describes as criminal and inhumane.

Signed by Joseph Modou Peh Grant, president of that solidarity association of this West African nation, the letter congratulates Díaz-Canel for having been ratified as head of his country.

He adds that his re-election to his post signifies the voters’ approval of the way the Head of State handled and directed affairs during his first term.

He stresses that «our prayer is that the brotherly Cuban people remain united, and continue their fight until they defeat the enemies of progress.»

He expresses that although we are in a difficult economic world due to the complex international situation, together we can move towards victory.

The message concludes with Long live the Cuban Revolution, and the historic friendship and brotherhood between the Antillean island and The Gambia!
