"An Island on a Continent"

"The greatest crime that can be committed against this continent today is neocolonialism, the attempt to establish capitalism in the peoples of Africa." Fidel Castro

Havana, Aug 31 (Prensa Latina) Cuba offers the world what it has and not its leftovers, and under this principle of solidarity it also receives the embrace of nations in favor of unity and mutual respect.

In the context of today’s celebrations of International Solidarity Day, the Caribbean island remembers the moments in which friendship arrived precisely, safely and with no pretext other than saving.

Recently, the fire that occurred at the Supertanker Base in the city of Matanzas showed that the island is not alone and that despite attempts to destabilize it through false news and the US blockade, countries from all continents sent food, medicine and medical supplies.

Since 1963, with the arrival in Algeria of the first Cuban medical collaboration, the health of the island reaches the most remote places to offer hope, relieve and leave the mark of humility that the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, always taught. .

Solidarity inspires the fight for social justice, the president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, recently stated, reaffirming that this feeling is today the telluric force of the mobilized peoples.

The International Day of Solidarity is a pretext to inspire peoples in the search for unity and peace, «leaving no one behind», as requested by the United Nations Organization to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
