Havana, Aug 21 (Prensa Latina) The sad story of the fire at the Supertanker Base in the city of Matanzas evidenced the unity of the Cuban people and the imprint of this nation in the world.
The signs of solidarity and support came from all the provinces of the country, and from governments and friends from various continents who sent messages of support and condolences, as well as medicines and other supplies to Matanzas hospitals to face the situation in the Industrial Zone.
The night of Friday, August 5, will be unforgettable for Cubans, who did not have a benchmark of large-scale accidents such as the one that occurred in one of the fuel tanks due to the impact of lightning.
Fire and wind destroyed four of the oil deposits, and in turn, contributed to the eternal suffering of relatives and friends of those who fell in the line of duty.
Matanzas will keep an exclusive place to pay eternal tribute to the deceased, and the city will never forget the moments in which the nights were turned into days by the flames.
Firefighters from nearby provinces arrived at the scene because that was their Moncada, they reaffirmed, while throughout the country there was never a lack of willingness to make, contribute, donate blood and accompany in the feeling for the losses. The fire demonstrated the courage, resistance, unity, brotherhood and faith of Cubans in decisive situations when existence, life and being are in danger.
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel defined the moment of honors at the funeral honors for 14 deceased, whose remains were impossible to identify due to the high temperatures at the disaster site, as a hard and overwhelming moment.
In Matanzas the will and solidarity triumphed. There are also tears, pain, and the certainty that the homeland will always proudly contemplate you, the absent children.
