Banjul, Feb 3rd.- If Cuba progresses, Africa will also develop, said today Honorable Badara A. Joof, the Gambian Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, in a meeting in his office with excellency Rubén G. Abelenda. the Caribbean island’s ambassador to this nation from West Africa.

Badara stressed that the largest of the Antilles has been and it is very supportive with the African continent, and in particular with the Gambia, so that if its development prospers, our region will advance equally, he assured.

The minister reiterated his gratitude to Cuba for the permanent collaboration with his country in the areas of health, education and others, and affirmed that the Caribbean archipelago deserves to be supported and helped by this historical altruistic behavior.

Likewise, he expressed the interest of his government and people to strengthen cooperation between the two sister nations in the spheres that his ministry attends, and promised to visit the island soon for that purpose.

Precisely, a large Gambian advanced delegation will travel to Havana to participate in the 13th University Congress 2022, to be held from the 7th to the 11th of this month.

On his part, at the meeting, the Cuban ambassador expressed gratitude to his host for his flattering words, and pointed out that between the respective countries there is mutual solidarity, and deep ties of friendship and brotherhood.

The diplomat predicted that collaboration and bilateral ties will surely continue to intensify in the future.
