  • Cuban Ambassador announces the arrival to the Gambia of new health professionals from his country

Banjul, Oct 19.- «I am a Gambian-Cuban defender of Fidel’s Homeland,» said Habibou Jallow, a young man from this West African nation who graduated as doctor in Medicine in 2021 on the Caribbean island.

Jallow concluded his studies at the Medical University of the eastern Cuban province of Camagüey, with a Gold Diploma, and another that accredits him as the most comprehensive graduate of his course.

After his recent return to the land where he was born, he was received by the ambassador of the Greater Antilles here, Rubén G. Abelenda, who congratulated him on his achievements as a student, and described him as an example for the new generations of Africans.

The young man thanked Cuba for having trained him as a doctor, and asserted that he will be eternally at the side of a people that welcomed him with great affection, and of the country that gave him the great opportunity to become a doctor.

He reiterated that he is a Gambian-Cuban who, wherever he is, will defend Fidel’s homeland in the fight he is waging against the US blockade and aggression.

The diplomat Abelenda took the opportunity to report that a new group of health professionals from the oldest Antillean archipelago will arrive in Banjul in the next few days to join the Medical Brigade that has been healing and saving lives in this sister nation for more than two decades.

He added that other doctors, graduates and technicians are also expected to arrive in The Gambia in November for a similar purpose.

Both nations practice solidarity and mutual brotherhood because historical, blood, cultural and religious ties unite us, concluded the interlocutors in the pleasant and cordial meeting they held at the headquarters of the embassy of the Caribbean island in this capital.
