President Díaz-Canel highlights epidemiological control in Cuba, and gradual opening of the island to tourism

Havana, Oct 13 (Agencies) The President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, highlighted the progress in vaccination against Covid-19 on the Island, the decrease in positive cases and the country’s preparations for the reopening of borders.

Through his Twitter account, the president mentioned the tendency to decrease those infected and deaths due to the epidemiological control of the pandemic.

‘The numbers of infected and deceased continue to decline, vaccination is going well, tourism is preparing for the opening of borders, neighborhoods shake inertia. We get up for Cuba, he wrote on social network.

The largest of the Antilles is preparing to gradually open its borders as of next November and boost its economy as of the high tourist season.

In his tweet, the head of state also made reference to the transformation process in vulnerable communities in the country, where houses, schools and other structures with high socio-cultural impact are built.

Recently, the Cuban Minister of Public Health, José Ángel Portal, reported that, at the end of October 10, 98.4 percent of the vaccinable population had received the first dose of one of Cuba’s own vaccines, and 63.7 percent the complete scheme.
