Gambia called on Africa to intensify solidarity with Cuba

Banjul, Sept. 16.- The President of the Gambia-Cuba Friendship Association, Mr. Joseph Modou Peh Grant, called on the peoples and governments of Africa to intensify their solidarity with the Caribbean Island, at a time when the United States is raging. the prolonged and criminal blockade that has been imposed on it for 60 years, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Grant’s exhortation was made in a meeting with the Ambassador of the Greater Antilles in this West African nation, H.E. Rubén G. Abelenda.

The President of the Gambian association said that this continent must now be more supportive than ever with Cuba in the face of the economic, commercial and financial siege that Washington is intensifying.

He added that it is time for all of us in this region to be more united on the side of the Cubans in order for the United States to end its policy of blockade, aggressions and media campaigns against the island.

He stressed that Cuba has been the only country in the world that has helped African nations, from their independence struggles to the present, without asking for, or taking anything in return, only the bodies of their heroes who fell in combat in these lands.

Grant asserted that for that reason this continent has the duty today to support and support the oldest Antillean archipelago in its long resistance struggle against the siege of its northern neighbor.

He also confirmed that he will participate in the African Continental Virtual Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba to be held on October 7.
