Dear friends,
The effects of the pandemic prevent the holding of the Seventh African Continental Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, which was agreed to take place in the sister
Republic of Mozambique from November 23 to 25, 2021.
In the face of this situation, the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples invites you to participate in the African Continental Virtual Event of Solidarity with Cuba, which will take place from the platform Jitsi Meet on October 7, 2021 at 11:00 am (Cuban time), with the aim of continuing to strengthen the bonds of solidarity between our nations.
October is a month full of symbolism in the history of Cuba and the African continent, it is an ideal moment for the realization of the event.
This will be an opportunity to pay tribute to the memory of Commander-in-Chief Fidel
Castro Ruz and Comandante Ernesto Che Guevara, symbols of internationalist
solidarity in the struggles for the peoples´ independence. Various historical dates
coincide this month: the fall in combat of the Heroic Guerrilla Man, the beginning of
the War for the Independence of Cuba, the World Day of Solidarity with our country,
the death of Captain Thomas Sankara and the birth commemoration of South
African leader Oliver Tambo. Likewise, this is the period of the year when various
countries celebrate their emancipation from the colonial yoke and their birth as free
and sovereign States.
This event will facilitate the construction of initiatives, proposals and exchanges of
strategies in favor of the solidarity with our people who for more than 60 years have
been the subject of the United States government´s genocidal policy of economic,
commercial and financial blockade, intensified by more than 240 coercive measures
implemented by the Donald Trump Administration that continue in force under the
administration of Joseph Biden, accompanied now by a brutal media war of political-
ideological destabilization of the country clearly aimed at overthrowing the Cuban
Revolution.
Cuba appreciates the selfless actions of the African continent to lift the blockade, the return of the territory illegally occupied by the United States at Guantanamo and Cuba’s right to self-determination.
The African peoples have shown that Cuba is not alone! We invite you to participate in this event. It is a time to make common cause and to raise our voices in defense of truth, unity, peace and in rejection of imperialist threats.
LONG LIVE THE INDESTRUCTIBLE BONDS OF FRIENDSHIP AND SOLIDARITY BETWEEN CUBA AND AFRICA!
Fraternally,
Fernando González Llort
President
