– Productive capacities for Cuban vaccines are guaranteed.

Havana, Mar 18 (Prensa Latina) Cuba collaborates with several countries in projects for the development of anti-Covid-19 vaccines, according to information released today by the Business Group of Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries (BioCubafarma) of this Caribbean Nation.

In his official account on the social network Twitter, he explained that as part of the Cuban strategy to develop vaccines, they are working with other states, including China, Venezuela, Iran and Mexico.

On January 8, the Finlay Vaccine Institute (IFV), leader of three of the five vaccine candidates developed by this Caribbean Nation against the disease, and the Pasteur Institute, of Iran, signed an agreement to carry out in that last country a Phase III clinical trial of Soberana 02, the most advanced Cuban proposal.

Regarding the importance of this procedure, the IFV explained that the incidence may change during the trial, therefore, it will be necessary to have several phase III trials in different settings with other incidence rates, such as those of Iran.

Specialists assure that it is one more step to validate the security and power of the Cuban candidate, which must demonstrate its real effectiveness.

About 100,000 doses were sent to the Pasteur Institute and in case the final efficacy results are confirmed, mass production of this product will also be launched in Iran, announced the spokesman for the Organization for Food and Medicine of the Persian nation. ,KianushYahanpur.

In another tweet, released this Thursday, BioCubafarma reiterated that the productive capacities for Cuban anti-Covid19 vaccines are guaranteed.

He pointed out that at the moment production lines in several of his companies are in charge of manufacturing injectables and others may be incorporated if necessary.

Having these production systems guarantees having the necessary doses and as announced, no later than the month of August, those required to immunize the entire population will have been manufactured.

The president of BioCubaFarma, Eduardo Martínez, stated that while the different vaccine variants were being outlined, the production systems were structured, so that once the safety and efficacy were demonstrated, we could have millions of doses.

This strategy also took into account the emergence of new variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the cause of the Covid-19 pandemic.

«We already have antigens that have these mutations and if necessary in a short time we can produce vaccines that contain them,» said the specialists of the business group.
