Havana, Mar 17 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez, celebrated this Wednesday the incorporation of Cambridge to the list of cities in the United States that demand an improvement in relations between the two neighboring countries.
In his official Twitter account, the chancellor pointed out that the city, belonging to the state of Massachusetts, complements the requests of almost 20 towns in the northern nation, seeking to deepen ties, lift the blockade, and cooperate in health to face the Covid-19 pandemic.
«That is the aspiration shared by the majority of the American and Cuban people,» wrote the head of diplomacy.
Recently, the Cambridge City Council approved a resolution calling for the end of the North American blockade against the island territory, a current siege despite the generalized rejection inside and outside the northern country.
The policy, with impacts on the economic, commercial and financial order, is considered a violation of human rights and the main obstacle to the development of the island.
In October 2020, Cambridge recognized Cuba’s response to Covid-19 and asked the federal and state governments and pharmaceutical industries to work with the Caribbean nation.
