President Díaz-Canel thanks Cuban emigrants caravan against US blockade

Havana, Feb 1 (RHC) The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, thanked the emigrants from the Caribbean nation in the United States who staged the day before, a caravan against the economic blockade imposed on their country.

In his Twitter account, the president stressed that patriots, wherever they live, understand that the US siege is a crime against the people of the largest island of the Antilles.

«Cuba thanks its emigrated children for the #PuentesDeAmor caravan,» wrote the head of state on the social network, accompanied by the hashtags #NoMasBloqueo and #CubaViva.

The North American cities of Miami, New York, Los Angeles and Seattle were the scene on Sunday of a protest against the illegal policy, in which around 500 Cubans residing there and friends of solidarity with Cuba participated.

By bicycle or cars, carrying flags and posters with messages against the blockade, and under the premise that ‘bridges of love’ are built between the Caribbean nation and the United States, the participants demanded the cessation of coercive measures against their country, and they spoke out for the unity of the emigrants in favor of that purpose.

According to reports from the Cuban government, the losses caused by this US policy, from April 2019 to March 2020, amount to $ 5,570.3 million.

This is the highest figure recorded in a year since the siege was put into practice, almost six decades ago, and which has already accumulated damages in the order of 144,413.4 million dollars, at current prices.

For 28 consecutive years, the international community in the UN General Assembly has passed resolutions on the need to end the blockade, but successive US governments refused to listen to the global demand.
