The «wall» of Trump against Cuba

By Patricio Montesinos

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, threatens to make another «wall», that of the application of the Helms-Burton Law against Cuba, whose purpose is to intensify the prolonged and frustrated blockade imposed by Washington on the largest of the Antilles since 60 years ago.

The «famous constructor», or rather, «destroyer» of the White House uses this illegal regulation to intimidate third countries and achieve their unsuccessful goal of internationalizing the old economic, commercial and financial siege that successive administrations of the decadent northern empire They have kept the Caribbean nation.

Despite their insistence and intimidation combined with persecution and multi-million dollar fines to companies and banks that negotiate with Cuba, Washington has not managed to get the world to accept its stubborn policy of blockade.

On the contrary, year after year the hostile behavior of the White House towards the Caribbean archipelago is overwhelmingly condemned in the UN General Assembly, however, the pressure and blackmail maneuvers that have led until today the rulers of the empire to avoid its more than clear international isolation.

Now the «destroyer» of the UN norms that govern peaceful coexistence on our planet proves the strength to try to enforce Chapter III of the Helms-Burton, which authorizes US citizens to present lawsuits against their Any foreigner who «traffic» with US properties nationalized in Cuba in the last decade of the 60’s.

The Helms-Burton expressly refers to extraterritorial effects, and affects the sovereignty of other States, in addition to the freedom of trade and navigation.

It is a law not applicable in Cuba or in any other country because it was manufactured by macabre hands in the US, and its jurisdiction is limited only and exclusively to its territory.

It constitutes, at the same time, another flagrant violation of the Human Rights of all Cubans, of the own American people, and of the citizens of any part of the world.

For these reasons, the international community will not allow the Helms-Burton to be imposed, and it will surely raise its voice again at the UN this year to once again condemn the sick hostility of Washington towards Cuba.

The decision of the inhabitants of the largest of the Antilles is well known and demonstrated. They will continue to fight against the blockade and the continuous aggressions of their unfriendly powerful neighbor, in defense of the Revolution of January 1, 1959 that commanded the historic leader Fidel Castro.

Trump evidently knows little, to say nothing, but he will learn very well that his supposed siege of Cuba will crumble when he stumbles upon a wall never violated by anyone. He can ask his predecessors.

The «Helms-Burton wall» of the US president and his advisors is just a fence compared to the moral strength and resistance that the people of the Caribbean island have.
